Pedestrian-friendly Beckenham High Street is starting to buzz again after the lockdown left only 45 retailers open. Bromley's Mayor has awarded Certificates of Thanks to them all for serving our community during such difficult times.
Conservative Councillor Stephen Wells said: “The level of empty premises is happily low and still reducing, so we welcome a new butcher’s shop, a bakery, a convenience store and two more restaurants. I hope that the former offices of Halifax BS and Thackeray Williams will soon be re-let.”
The night time economy is also beginning to recover and Government support for eating out on Monday to Wednesday during August should help local cafés, restaurants and pubs to get back on their feet.
