Local Councillors and Bob Stewart are campaigning for the restoration of services to Cannon Street from Hayes, West Wickham, Elmers End, Clock House, New Beckenham and Lower Sydenham.
The services were removed in December 2022 when Southeastern amended the timetable, meaning services no longer run trains to Cannon street on the Hayes line and only serve Charing Cross. The operator claim this is to improve punctuality across the network by reducing services over the congested junction outside Lewisham.
Local Councillors and Member of Parliament Bob Stewart believed that the major change to services should have been subject to a public consultation and launched a petition calling for the decision to be reversed, sign the petition below.
Hayes and Coney Hall Councillor, Thomas Turrell, said:
“The removal of services to the City from Hayes station is a big set back for local rail users. I am disappointed Southeastern did not consult passengers on these changes prior to the announcement.”
Save the Hayes (Kent) Line Cannon Street Services
We, the undersign, call on Southeastern to reverse the decision to scrap the services to Cannon Street from Hayes (Kent), which serves West Wickham, Eden Park, Elmers End. Clock House, New Beckenham and Lower Sydenham in the London Borough of Bromley.
The services provide a direct line to the City of London and are well used services. Their removal, without any prior consultation, will significantly reduce capacity on the line and put more pressure on pinch point junctions such as Lewisham and London Bridge.
